Kringle
An authentic Danish Kringle is 32 layers of flaky, buttery dough filled with a variety of fruits and nuts and baked until golden brown. Popular varieties include pecan, almond, raspberry, cherry, apple, strawberry, and cream cheese. Racine bakers get creative with seasonal selections like turtle, cranberry, pumpkin, cinnamon, and key lime.
Kringle making is a time- and labor-intensive process. Bakers repeatedly fold together butter and flour and then refrigerate the dough to produce a delicate, flaky texture. The effort is well worth it!
Kringle from Racine County has gained an enthusiastic worldwide following. The pastry has been featured on the Food Network, Travel Channel, “Today Show,” “CBS Sunday Morning,” and other national TV outlets.
Kringle is available at local bakeries, grocery stores and other outlets throughout the area. Our bakers proudly ship their Kringle all over the world, particularly during the Christmas season.
One slice is never enough of the Official Wisconsin Pastry from America’s Kringle Capital!
